Robbie Gamble is a poet, writer, nurse practitioner, and social activist. He worked as a human rights observer during the civil war in El Salvador in the late 1980's, and subsequently ran a settlement house in Hamilton, Ontario, for Central American refugees seeking political asylum in Canada. More recently, he has spent time on the Mexico/ Arizona border, providing medical and material aid to migrants crossing through a remote and dangerous stretch of the Sonoran Desert. He regularly works as a nurse practitioner caring for homeless people in Boston.
Robbie holds an MFA in Poetry from Lesley University. His poems and essays have appeared in Writers Resist, Poet Lore, Naugatuck River Review, Solstice, Carve, and other publications.
